Suggestion
I highly recommend this area as a Preservation Area as well, that WILL NOT be developed for neither commercial NOR residential purposes.
Suggestion
Lots of great ideas here, but VERY hard to read and follow. My main input is please do NOT increase or raise ANY new taxes to fund ANY of this. Preferably you would CUT taxes as they are already extremely high relative to other areas, thus diminishing the value of our properties
Lakeway should have a Senior Center to accommodate the growing number of retired citizens. While the Activity Center was initially planned to meet this community need, it has been drawn to commercial activities that are given priority in allocating space. An excellent place for a Senior Center exists in the old Judicial Center. Conversion would be easy.
Suggestion
I think it’s very short sighted to take down the skatepark for an expensive water feature
Suggestion
The reality is that more building, more residents, and more commercial use increases demand for water that is a precious commodity in this area and a reason many move to a community with a lake. I support neighborhood dynamic that would add housing on top of retail sites and leave more space for the parks and open spaces. Drought and deer resistant plants should be the priority for planing in those areas.
How about we slow the growth of Lakeway until our roads can handle the growth already here, lines of traffic everywhere, more packed in housing, huge multiple dwellings, our beautiful neighborhood's and hills covered with new homes, lets catch up with our growth thus far before approving even more housing.
Suggestion
Emphasis on Green Spaces and Parks by ensuring that these areas will not be developed with commercial and residential uses.

April 10 City Planning Meeting under Future Vision...
Lakeway as a Destination Community

Green spaces and recreational areas a priority. Who wants to visit a destination spot if it's another concrete jungle with high density use? Set the stage upon entering the Lakeway Community proper with green spaces for family activities. Utilize our natural beauty. There are 2-3 possible water possibilities on Lohmans Crossing and behind Morning Glory areas. Rezone, redefine, acquire spaces for these features....think bike trails, walking trails, small tables for old men to play chess in the park. That's Community with a Capital C. Beautiful environments enhance mental health. Family, Fun and then businesses will come and so will visitors, participants, shoppers. We need Uniqueness...like an art and music venues. Limited time to acquire land...Ensure that Lakeway preserves and nurtures its small town charm. Utilize vegetation that is already established. Buffer commercial building development with barrier of trees and landscaping. There are plenty of low income housing going up along H620 towards 2222 and on Bee Cave Parkway and on H71. Please No big box store, which will more concrete. Their parking lots are filled with litter.
I loved the idea of a Wildflower type Center! That goes in with the Destination theme.
Suggestion
Please be more specific Proposed Goal: Foster Community Identity.
Possibly add.....of the charm of a small town community, or something to that effect.

Suggestion
This type of housing is helpful to both young families and aging residents. While traffic is always a concern, we have a real need for more affordable housing (midpriced housing suitable for families of teachers, first responders, etc.)
Suggestion
The preserved greenspace is very important to the beauty of Lakeway. Wildfire mitigation should be considered in conjunction with LTFR, Austin Fire and Rescue and any other experts on wildfire mitigation in environmentally sensitive areas.
Suggestion
The airpark should never be used for flight lessons or before sunrise/sunset. Future use of the airpark should not exceed its current levels of usage in any way that would increase air traffic. It should remain limited because the neighborhood density makes it ill-suited for heavy traffic.
Suggestion
Retail - let's keep all retail to existing sites. They are not all used. Let's redevelop them instead of adding more!
Suggestion
We do not need any more apartment complexes and/or condos in the area. The infrastructure cannot handle the growth. Patio homes, single family homes, and a lot of greenspace is what we need.
